KeyHollow Support
KeyHollow is a local-only encrypted photo vault for iPhone. Please review the guidance below before contacting support.
Vault passcodes
- Vault passcodes contain 8–20 digits and predictable patterns are rejected.
- A valid passcode opens only its associated vault.
- After repeated incorrect attempts, wait for the displayed cooldown to finish.
- KeyHollow cannot recover or reset a forgotten passcode.
Copy and Move
- Copy to Vault keeps the original in Apple Photos.
- Move to Vault encrypts and verifies first, then asks iOS to delete the original.
- If deletion is denied or incomplete, treat the result as a copy and confirm both locations yourself.
- Do not interrupt an import or remove originals manually until you have verified the vault items.
Encrypted export and restore
- Open the vault you want to move and create an encrypted .khvault export.
- Each export receives a new random 32-character recovery code; it is not the vault’s 8–20 digit local LowKey.
- Use the dedicated Copy control only when needed. The app requests local-only clipboard handling with a short expiration, but other clipboard tools may retain copied text.
- Store or send the archive and recovery code separately.
- To restore, select the .khvault file, enter its recovery code, and create a new local LowKey for the restored vault.
- KeyHollow cannot recover a lost local LowKey or export recovery code.
Important data-loss warning
Deleting KeyHollow, deleting a vault, erasing or losing the device, device failure, or forgetting a local LowKey may permanently remove access to vault contents. KeyHollow has no operated cloud backup or remote recovery. An encrypted .khvault can help only if you retain both the archive and its separate recovery code. Keep independent copies of irreplaceable media.
Locking and privacy
KeyHollow locks when it leaves the foreground. The current version intentionally does not use Face ID, Touch ID, or the iPhone device passcode as a vault-passcode substitute. The locked interface does not list vaults or disclose how many exist.
Before reporting a problem
Record the KeyHollow version, iOS version, iPhone model, the action you were taking, and the exact on-screen message. If the issue concerns a photo import, note whether you selected Copy or Move and whether iOS displayed a deletion prompt. For encrypted export or restore issues, record the stage and exact message, but never send the archive, local LowKey, recovery code, or private content.
Privacy-safe support
Never send support a vault passcode, encryption key, private photo, or other vault content. KeyHollow support cannot open a vault or recover encrypted data for you.
Security reports
Include clear reproduction steps and the affected app version. Use test media only. Do not access another person's device or data while investigating a report.
